The first step that interested families should take is to thoroughly read this website and the Sudbury Valley Website as well as one or more books available on the Sudbury Model.  If possible, attend an open house where staff members and parents will be available to answer questions. Once you are well informed about what the Sudbury model does and does not entail, fill out the admissions interview request form. Please fill the form out completely and send via post to the address listed on the form. Along with the form, please include a $30 check or money order for the interview.

As soon as we receive your application, we will contact you to set up an interview. At the admissions interview, staff, parents, and students will together determine if the school is a good fit for the child.

The visiting week is the next step. The visiting week costs $150 and allows your child to try out the school with no obligation to enroll. After the visiting week is over, enrollment occurs with the first tuition payment.

We strive to be affordable for all families and our tuition is the lowest of any private school in the area. The fact is that most of our families make financial sacrifices in order to give their child the gift of a Sudbury education. Once your family has decided to enroll in the school, you may choose to participate in the work-trade tuition program or pay the full tuition of $6000 per year. Work trade reduces your tuition payment by 40% in exchange for 10 hours of approved work for or at the school per month.  Subsequent children in the same family qualify for a 50% reduction in tuition which may also be reduced an additional 40% for another 10 hours of work per month.  So in effect the school operates on a sliding scale based on work contribution where the first child's tuition is between $4000 and $6000 and subsequent children's tuition is between $2000 and $3000 per year.  A limited number of scholarships are available in addition to the work-trade option.  The scholarships are based on financial need plus demonstrated comittment to the Sudbury Model by the family with other extenuating circumstances taken into account as well.

In order to enroll, you may pay one year's tuition in advance, OR enroll in a payment plan by submitting a deposit equal to 10% of your yearly tuition charge. This deposit will be considered to be a finance charge and will not be deducted from the payment amount. The exact details of your payment plan may vary, but usually the year's tuition is paid over the course of nine months.

Please note that your child(ren)s space at the school is not guaranteed until your tuition payment or deposit has been received
